Our league team is a Division III men's team with the Northern California Rugby Football Union (NCFRU), we are also members of International Gay Rugby (IGR) and the founding team of the Bingham Cup — the world championships of gay and inclusive rugby.
During the 2023-24 Season, we had our most successful season — making it to the semi-finals in the USA Rugby Northern Californian Men’s Division 3.
In May 2024, we travelled to Rome, Italy with 2 full sides (close to 60 players) to participate in the Bingham Cup; we were the sole North American club in the top 8 (out of 91 teams).
In December 2024, the Fog will host several IGR West Coast teams for the Rucktacular Tournament (usually held on the first Saturday of December every year).
Over Memorial Day weekend in 2025, we will be travelling to Boston for the 2025 NorAm IGR Cup; our Bingham placement has earned us the #1 seed among North American IGR Teams.
Your support allows us to pay for equipment, insurance, field rental, and to support players in traveling to games and tournaments.
Donating to the Fog
The Fog is always accepting tax deductible donations of any amount; we can support one-off or recurring donations. We have access to 501(c)3 non-profit status through our fiscal sponsor — Dancers’ Group.
The team, its fanbase and supporting audience is fun, diverse, and a cross-section group of athletes based in sporting excellence. Your support allows for targeted marketing and other benefits by serving a wide array of communities across the LGBTQIA2S, athletic and wellness communities.
Sponsorship Opportunities
The Fog has no one size-fits all approach to building sponsorship packages. We value support of all kinds and want to generate comparable partnerships that benefit both parties, their capacities and intentions for growth. What works well for one partner, may not work well for another.

Season
The Fog participates in the Northern California Rugby Football League (NCRFU) January – May annually, with weekly practices on Tuesday/Thursday and matches on Saturdays. Our 2024 Season will contain 9 A-side games and a number of B-side matches.
Teammate support / Scholarship(s)
Fog team members are expected to pay dues, supply their own workout gear, and travel for away and tournament games, amongst other obligations. We never want any cost to be prohibitive to participation and work with all members to reduce costs whenever needed.
Tournaments
The Fog plays in a number of tournaments on both an annual (Rucktacular) and bi-annual basis (Bingham and NorAM). These massive communal events are both national and international in scope, requiring great investment in travel, room and board for our team members.
Operating / General Support
Everything from field rentals, storage expenses, P.O. Box costs to the needs for marketing and post game/tournament socials’ food/beverages are drawn from operating/general support. This type of support is often the most crucial for the sustainability and management of the team.
