The San Francisco Fog Rugby Club (The Fog) welcomes you to Rucktacular 2024 — a rugby festival from 6 - 9 December 2024 — consisting of a welcome social, a whole day of round-robin rugby games, post-match social, after party and survivors brunch. There’s plenty of action to fill your… long weekend!
The Fog is excited to invite International Gay Rugby (IGR) teams from across the West Coast of North America to this festival — Los Angeles Rebellion, San Diego Armada, Seattle Quake, Portland Lumberjacks, Colorado Rush, Phoenix Storm and Vancouver Rogues.
Rucktacular is an all-inclusive festival - we welcome players of all abilities, sexualities, genders and races. We have a zero tolerance policy for discrimination.
The Fog would like to acknowledge the Ramaytush Ohlone people, who are the traditional custodians of the land that San Francisco sits upon. We pay our respects to the Ramaytush Ohlone elders, past, present, and future, who call this place their home.

Welcome Social — The Pilsner Inn
Our home bar, The Pilsner Inn, is throwing open the doors to all players, coaches, match officials, volunteers, and fabulous fans for a glittering kickoff to the weekend!
Join us in a fun and friendly atmosphere where you can meet your fellow players and connect with your IGR family. Let’s celebrate, share some laughs, and kick off an unforgettable weekend together!

Saturday 7 December
Rucktacular Matches — Minnie & Lovie Ward Recreational Center
All Rucktacular Matches will be played simultaneously on two all-weather turf fields located at Minnie & Lovie Ward Recreational Center in San Francisco.
We are still finalising the schedule, however teams and players can expect multiple games throughout the day. The fields are located near Balboa Park BART Station with street parking available.
When: Expect 9:00am — 4:00pm

Post Matches Social — The Eagle
After the matches are done, all players, coaches, match officials, volunteers and fans are invited to join us at The Eagle SF.
We’ve got a bunch of surprises lined up to get the party started.
When: 4:30pm — 7:30pm

Note: The start time will be based on when the matches end.
Rucktacular After Party — The Stud
Time to get the party started, we’ve booked the hottest local DJs and will be putting on a true San Francisco party for you — at one of our most famous queer venues.
Teams are encouraged to dress in their own theme.

Sunday 8 December
Rucktacular Survivors Brunch — The Detour
Did you survive all of that? Join us at The Detour to share stories of your weekend fun a relaxing and fun-filled Survivor’s Brunch, and trust us—you won’t want to miss it!
Kick back and relax with some rugby on the TV while you challenge your teammates and pals to video and arcade games. Plus, we’ve whipped up a special brunch menu just for you, loaded with delicious treats and drinks!

Monday 9 December
Last Call Dinner — Teeth SF
Still in town? Join us for Last Call Dinner at Teeth SF! It’s the perfect way to unwind on a Monday night. Enjoy the bar’s burger and beer special — $15 burger and beer + $4 sides —in a laid-back atmosphere where you can relax and connect with friends or fellow festival-goers. Whether you’re celebrating the weekend or just looking for a fun night out, Teeth is the place to be. Grab your crew and come savor some great food and drinks before heading home!

Morning & Afternoon Games

Our hotel sponsor, Courtyard San Francisco Union Square, is offering a great discounted rate for all Rucktacular participants between Thursday 5 December — Tuesday 10 December; as we know some of you are arriving early and leaving late.
We have reserved a group block of 60 rooms at a rate of $135 per night + tax for double occupancy rooms at the hotel. If participants wish to have extra people in their room - Triple occupancy will incur a $5.00 upcharge ($140 + tax) and quad occupancy will incur a $10.00 upcharge ($145 + tax).
The above rates are available until Tuesday, November 12, 2024. Rooms are available on a first come, first serve basis so it's recommended for people to book right away. Each player, coach and supporter that is coming to Rucktacular can book their own rooms under our group rate.

The Fog is excited to host events throughout the festival weekend at our local bars, celebrating community and camaraderie!

We will post signage at each event promoting harm reduction, and at each event there will be a designated lead who can assist with harm reduction resources and guidance, promoting a responsible atmosphere.
However, it's important to note that this lead and The Fog are not responsible for individual choices.
Together, we can create an inclusive environment where all participants can look out for each other while enjoying our love for rugby and the community.
San Francisco is home to many sober communities including The Castro Country Club, which like others, is a refuge for the queer recovery community providing programs and services including regular meetings and a cafe to spend time in.
